In the pursuit of smooth, hair-free skin, laser hair removal has emerged as a popular and effective option. If you’ve ever wondered about bidding farewell to razors and waxing appointments, you’re not alone. But is laser hair removal the right choice for you? Let’s dive into the details, unpacking the ins and outs of this cosmetic procedure. You can also check out https://dermatologyandlasergroup.com/body-procedures/laser-hair-removal-nyc/ if you’re interested in booking a laser hair removal appointment with a reputable provider.

Understanding the Basics

Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicles with concentrated beams of light. This process inhibits hair growth, promising long-lasting results. Before you jump on the laser bandwagon, it’s crucial to comprehend how it works and what to expect.

The Science Behind It

Imagine a superhero laser zapping away unwanted hair follicles, leaving your skin smooth and hair-free – that’s the basic idea. The laser emits a light that gets absorbed by the pigment in the hair, effectively targeting the follicle and preventing future hair growth. The effectiveness of the treatment is what drives people to search for it online, using phrases like “Los Angeles laser hair removal“.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Contrary to what some might believe, laser hair removal isn’t an in-and-out procedure. Multiple sessions are typically required for optimal results. Each session is like a step closer to the finish line of silky, hair-free skin. The duration varies depending on the treatment area, but the procedure is generally quick and relatively painless.

Beyond the immediate experience, the true value of laser hair removal lies in its long-term benefits and precision. This advanced method effectively targets hair follicles, leading to significant and lasting hair reduction without harming the surrounding skin. Patients often report enhanced convenience, a noticeable reduction in ingrown hairs, and significantly less discomfort compared to traditional hair removal techniques. Achieving optimal results typically requires a series of sessions, and the treatment is adaptable for various skin tones. For those considering this effective solution, seeking out a highly-rated provider, such as for Laser Hair Removal San Francisco, ensures expert care and tailored treatment plans.

Is It Right for You?

Laser Hair Removal: Benefits, Risks And Side Effects

Now, the million-dollar question – is laser hair removal the right fit for you? Let’s break it down:

Skin and Hair Types

Laser hair removal isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. The effectiveness depends on your skin and hair type. Generally, it works best for individuals with light skin and dark hair. However, advancements in technology have expanded the range of suitable candidates, so consult with a professional to determine if it’s right for you.

Pain Tolerance

While pain is subjective, most people describe the sensation as tolerable, akin to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. If you’ve endured waxing without shedding a tear, laser hair removal might feel like a walk in the park.

Patience is a Virtue

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a hair-free zone. Patience is key, as multiple sessions are needed to achieve the desired results. If you’re looking for a quick fix, laser hair removal might not be your best bet.

The Pros and Cons

Every rose has its thorns, and laser hair removal is no exception. Let’s explore the pros and cons:

The Pros

Long-Lasting Results: Unlike shaving that offers only temporary relief, laser hair removal promises prolonged smoothness.

Time-Saving: Say goodbye to daily shaving or monthly waxing appointments – laser hair removal reduces the frequency of grooming sessions.

Precision Targeting: The laser can precisely target specific areas, leaving surrounding skin untouched.

The Cons

Cost: Quality comes at a price, and laser hair removal is no exception. While cost varies, it’s generally more expensive than traditional hair removal methods.

Not a One-Time Fix: As mentioned earlier, multiple sessions are required, and maintenance sessions may be needed to keep the hair at bay.

Potential Side Effects: Temporary redness and irritation are common, and there’s a slight risk of pigmentation changes or scarring.

Preparing for Your Laser Adventure

Laser hair removal: 12 things you need to know before having the treatment

So, you’ve decided to take the plunge into the world of laser hair removal. What’s next? Here’s a quick guide to preparing for your sessions:

Say Farewell to Sun Exposure

Before your laser sessions, bid farewell to those sunny beach days. Sun exposure can interfere with the procedure, so slather on the sunscreen and embrace the shade.

Shave, Don’t Wax

Unlike waxing, which removes the hair follicle, laser hair removal works best on shaved hair. So, get cozy with your razor before your appointment.

Manage Your Expectations

While laser hair removal works wonders, it’s not a magic wand. Be realistic about the results, and understand that perfection may require patience and multiple sessions.

The Final Verdict

Laser hair removal isn’t just a beauty trend; it’s a lifestyle choice. If you’re ready to bid adieu to the razor and embrace the silky smoothness, it might be the right choice for you. Consult with a professional, weigh the pros and cons, and embark on your journey to a fuzz-free existence.

In conclusion, laser hair removal isn’t a robotic, one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a personal choice, a commitment to your skin’s well-being. As you contemplate this cosmetic adventure, remember – beauty is not only skin deep; it’s a journey, a choice, and sometimes, a laser away from a smoother you.

There is an expectation in society that women should wear makeup whenever they leave the house (and even when they’re at home) and that they should enjoy the process of buying makeup, putting it on, and seeing how it makes them look.

The truth is that for a lot of women (and some men as well), that’s absolutely the case – they enjoy wearing makeup and the freedom and self-expression it offers. However, there are women who don’t see the point in wearing makeup because it’s time-consuming, difficult to get right, they don’t like how it looks, or they don’t feel it’s good for their skin, among other reasons.

If that’s how you feel about makeup, don’t wear it. It’s as simple as that. If you don’t like something, don’t do it, especially when it’s something as unimportant as makeup (which, even if you love it, you have to admit is the case).

Of course, knowing that you don’t have to wear makeup is one thing, but feeling confident not wearing it if it’s something you’re used to (even if you don’t like it) is something else completely, and with that in mind, here are some ways to feel confident without makeup to help you get started.

Love Your Flaws

FOR WHEN YOU ARE NOT LOVED BACK

Sometimes, people wear makeup to cover up what they feel are flaws, which could be anything from scars to freckles – a flaw is basically any feature you think of as imperfect (and we all have them, no matter who you are).

So instead of looking at these things as flaws, think of them as unique elements of you that make you who you are. Love them, and don’t be ashamed or afraid of them – when you get to that stage, you won’t feel the need to cover them up anymore. Remember, most of the time, the people around you – when they’re strangers, at least – won’t even notice you or look at you at all, even if it feels as though they are. In other words, don’t worry about other people and do what’s right for you because that’s what counts.

Get Your Skin Looking Good

NON-TOXIC MAKEUP ROUTINE

Taking care of your skin can make a huge difference in how you feel about yourself without makeup – if your skin looks fresh and youthful, the last thing you’ll want to do is cover it up, and by putting a good skincare routine in place, you can ensure your skin does look great as much of the time as possible (there will always be days when it’s a little greasier or dryer, but that’s often to do with hormones and the weather, and it’s harder to regulate.

Cleansing, moisturizing, and using sunscreen every time you go outside (not just when it’s hot) is vital and can really make a difference to how your skin looks. Another great idea is to go to a massage salon on a regular basis because that can ensure your circulation is improved and give your skin a youthful glow.

Explore Subtle Enhancements

Sometimes, building confidence without makeup isn’t just about removing something from your routine — it can also be about thoughtfully adding things in. Whether it’s a new haircut, a shift in wardrobe, or a wellness treatment, small enhancements that align with how you want to feel can make a meaningful difference. For those interested in smoothing fine lines or enhancing their natural look, searching for Botox Near Me can be a subtle and effective way to feel refreshed. It’s important to explore what feels right for you and consult with professionals to find approaches that suit your preferences and lifestyle.

Think About Inner Beauty

Integrity, Shape & Radiance: Defining Inner Beauty

It might sound like a difficult thing to do or perhaps even something of a cliche, but the fact is that focusing on inner beauty is a much better option than focusing on external beauty, and it can help you feel a lot more confident to go out with no makeup on.

Real confidence comes from knowing you’re doing good things and being as positive as possible. That means being kind to others, being compassionate, and having a positive attitude, among other things. If you can really shift your focus from how you look to how you act, you’ll realize that makeup isn’t important and you really don’t need it – although, of course, if you want to wear it, that’s fine too!

Be Around Positive People

Something else that can really help with your confidence and your self-esteem is to be around positive people as much of the time as you can – it really will make a difference, and it makes for a happier life all round as well.

Look for the people who will lift you up and support you and who don’t feel it necessary to even comment on whether you’re wearing makeup or how your hair looks or anything else because it’s not important to them. They just want to be around you for who you are, and you can feel the same about them, which isn’t just confidence-boosting but freeing as well.

Knowing that people like you for you will make you feel hugely confident, and makeup won’t even feature in your plans – think of the time you’ll save!

Healthy eating and in the right amount can help your body fight against unintentional weight gain and maintain the proper function of organs, including the skin. Many people face acne problems, but only a few know how big a diet plays in acne treatment.

What is Acne?

Beauty Crisis: Youtube Star Jill Cimorelli Says ‘Not Another Acne Breakout! Help!’

Acne is a very common skin problem that leads to the development of pimples on the skin surface. Acne can form on any part of the body but is most commonly found on the neck, face, back, and shoulder.

Acne often appears due to hormonal changes, so it’s especially common in teenagers going through puberty but can affect people of all ages. Although not usually physically painful, acne still requires treatment that suits the sufferer’s skin, depending on the severity of the condition.

Causes of Acne

To know how acne comes to be, it is important to understand the skin first. The skin surface has small holes called pores that connect sebaceous glands (oil glands) beneath the skin. The oil produced by the oil glands is sent to the skin surface through follicles.

Acne will develop when skin oil is produced in excess and clogs the pores along with dead skin cells and bacteria. This is the reason why teenagers at puberty get more acne as the hormonal changes produce excess oil leading to clogging of pores.

Effects of diet on your skin

5 Reasons to Love Your Age

Diet is one of the greatest things that can affect your skin condition. Consuming certain food types may help you protect your skin from acne. These foods have some properties that reduce inflammation and excess production of oil from glands hence lessening acne appearance.

Therefore, you should increase the consumption of food like fatty fish, soy, broccoli, and red grapes.

Food to avoid to prevent acne appearance

Top 7 Foods That Can Cause Acne

If you are concerned about the appearance of acne, you could try avoiding high-glycemic-load diets.

According to research, foods with a high glycemic index are associated with an increased risk of acne. Compared to food with a low glycemic index, high GI food will raise your blood sugar faster and lead to high insulin levels.

High glycemic index foods increase insulin production, resulting in an increase in skin oil (sebum) and androgen, which can lead to the development of acne. Therefore, try to avoid food with a high glycemic index like:

Chips

Refined sugar

Melons

Sweetened breakfast cereal/Sugar cereals

Sugary beverages

Cookies

White bread

Getting acne when you moderately eat any single food above is significantly lower. However, following a diet with many of these foods may contribute to the development of acne.

High glycemic foods are made of simple sugar. Therefore, if taken in plenty, they increase your blood sugar more quickly than other types of food.

Your body will release IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor 1) when there is a quick rise in blood sugar. When IGF-1 is released in excess, it will cause oil glands to produce more oil, putting you at risk of inflammation and acne.

Dairy products

I Gave Up Dairy—And My Adult Acne Vanished in Under a Month

Some research shows that milk and dairy products contribute to the development of some skin conditions like acne. Milk and dairy products contain the IGF-1 hormone. This hormone can interact with oil and adrenalin glands, causing an effect that contributes to acne development.

Milk contains amino acids that accelerate the production of skin oil. Too much intake of dairy products or milk can increase sebum production, leading to clogging of pores; hence acne develops.

In a nutshell

Food with a high glycemic index has been found to favor the production of certain hormones that stimulate excess production of sebum, leading to clogging of pores to cause pimples. Therefore, try to avoid the above type of food. Before taking any acne treatment, it is important to first talk to your dermatologist to get effective and safe treatment and ensure your acne isn’t caused by an underlying condition.

Genetic and hormonal disturbances are often blamed for the problem of hair loss, but there are other factors that adversely affect hair growth & overall health including varying degree of hair fall, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.

Thankfully, adopting the correct , simple & easy to follow hair care regimen can lead to good habits that result in healthier, happier & revitalized hair. Here are some tips:

Use The Right Products (In The Right Amount) For Your Hair Type

13 Ways You Don’t Realize You’re Damaging Your Hair

Hair differs in texture, color, width etc. First, learn how to identify hair type in order determine what types of shampoo and conditioner your hair needs & how to style it. For example, if your hair type is dry and frizzy you will likely use something heavy in moisture. When choosing a shampoo, opt for an organic and herbal based blend that promote and maximize healthy hair growth. Again, most hair types benefit from a dime-sized amount of shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, according to Constantine James, a celebrity hair and makeup expert. James told Greatist that using too much product is simply a waste of money and does nothing for you.

Rethink The Frequency & Way You Wash Your Hair

7 Ways to Pamper Yourself This Holiday Season

Wet hair is extremely weak and thus more vulnerable to breakage than dry hair. Frequent shampooing & common mistakes in shampooing and the consequent combing & drying of hair, wears down your hair (especially if you like hot water), and can remove your natural oils. Unless you have a very oily scalp, wash only once or twice a week. As a bonus, the less you wash, the less often you need to apply a styling product. In between washes, briefly rinse hair to remove dirt.

Get Your Brushing Technique Correct

Frequent & mindless hair brushing or being too aggressive while brushing your hair will only cause damage, and no-one wants to contend with fluffy, split ends.

“For perfectly shiny, healthy and untangled hair, you should be brushing your hair twice a day,” suggests hairstylist Laura Superbi. “Once in the morning and once before going to bed, for about a minute each time.” “Brushing from the roots causes damage – always brush from the bottom and work up,” advises hair stylist Tracey Cunningham, especially if you have long hair.

Wet hair is extremely weak and thus more vulnerable to breakage than dry hair, so tugging at your tresses with a brush or a comb post-shower to de-tangle is one of the worst things you can do.

Waiting as long as you can to work through those tangles (and also using a high-quality hair brush when you do) is a good idea for all hair types, even if it requires a little more extra patience.

Studies show that frequent haircuts is good for the overall health of your hair. Don’t wait to develop split ends, tangles and uncontrollable length before you make your next haircut appointment. Finding a stylist who can create a haircut that’s just right for you and your hair, and who will explain what it’s going to take for you to maintain the look is important. That usually means getting regular trims, says Tania Moran, a stylist at Swank salon in New York City. “If you have long hair, return every six to eight weeks,” she recommends. “If you want it to grow, wait a bit longer.
Always Use Heat & Sun Protectant Products

The longer your hair is exposed to high temps from styling tools like a blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron, the more damage you can create. Always use a heat protectant spray or serum before you blow dry or flat iron because when used with hot tools, the product breaks down to penetrate the hair shaft in order to work on reconstruction and protection! Similarly, protection from the sun is also a must for your not only your skin but also your hair. Click here for more information on products that protect your hair from the sun and harmful UV rays.

Learn How to Give Yourself a Blowout

14 things you’re doing every day that are ruining your hair

Grabbing drying or heat tools immediately after hopping out of the shower is a definite no-no.

Let your hair air-dry for at least an hour before touching it at all, and you’ll cut down on styling time and heat damage all at once.

Heat and direction are the key elements for a successful blowout. The best beauty tip when blow drying your hair is to get as close as possible without actually touching the strands (the heat can do damage). Use a moderate to high heat setting, and make sure you aim down so that air blows along the hair shafts from root to tip. That’s what gives you the sleek shininess of salon hair.

Invest in Some High-Quality Hot Tools

8 Stylist Secrets for Healthy, Gorgeous Hair

Committing the mortal sin of blow-drying too quickly and using the high heat settings can cause some scary long-term effects on your locks, but the opposite is also true: Skimping on drying time is equally bad for your strands.

When you blow dry and leave hair damp, you’re giving it a one-way ticket to frizzville as the hair becomes exposed to the elements when you walk out the door.

And if your hair isn’t fully dry before you straighten or curl it, you’re putting it at serious risk for breakage. So spend some time to research and invest in the right, high quality tools that are kind to your hair but also get the job done right!

Don’t Wear the Same Ponytail Every Day

5 Ways You Didn’t Realize Your Hair Ties Are Ruining Your Hair

For those of us constantly on-the-go, ponytails and top knots often save us hours of styling time, giving us a polished look without hot tools and tons of product. But wearing your hair in the same way every day is pretty bad for it, causing breakage along your hairline and mid-shaft. Be sure to protect your hair by varying your hairdos, as the same placement each day can cause breakage or damage. A high ponytail today should mean a low one tomorrow or a pinned-up twist or bun instead.

Use a creaseless scrunchie instead of a classic hair tie because tough or textured ties can damage your hair. Hair ties, as convenient as they are, can lead to breakage, flyaways, and frizz, which isn’t great for the long-term health of your hair. Give locks a break as often as you can – for example keep your ponytail or bun loose for the same reason you shouldn’t braid your hair too tightly to prevent hair breakage – to protect your scalp from unnecessary stress and tightness, so it’ll look great no matter what style you’re rocking these days.

Takeaway

What You Should Know About Scalp and Head Massage

Hair growth is not always a matter of shampoo, serums and conditioners, but also a matter of balanced diet, genetics and peace of mind. Most of the factors mentioned above can be easily maintained by minor lifestyle changes; however, genetic factors remain irreversible. Maintaining the right nutritional balance of vitamins, antioxidants and micronutrients along with correction of hair loss mechanism can be a successful hair loss management strategy. So, adopt a supportive hair care routine and make your hair look healthy and damage-free in no time!

Hair. We’d all be lying if we said we didn’t care about our hair or if the health of our hair didn’t cross our mind at some point. A person’s hair has physical & health significance. Hair symbolizes physical strength & beauty! It is a symbol of instinct, seduction and physical attraction – whether you wear it long, short, cropped or curly. More importantly, the health of a person’s hair, is very often indicative of overall health.

Like everything else, hair too has a hair growth cycle and any disruption or interference in this cycle could cause hair loss which is a very common problem. Along with hair loss, people experience other hair problems such as varying degree of hair fall, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.

Understanding the Hair Growth Cycle

Now, while some of these problems are complicated and hard to control, the good news is that most problems associated with hair loss & damage are the more common ones, within our control to correct and resolve. So, to get down to basics, here we will be discussing the most important factors that affect the health and growth of hair, what causes hair damage & loss and finally best practices to prevent hair loss & promote regrowth!

Uncontrollable Factors Affecting Hair Loss, Growth & Damage

Genetic and hormonal disturbances are often blamed for the problem of hair loss, but there are other factors that adversely affect hair growth & overall health including varying degree of hair fall, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.

Genetic

What’s Inside Matters: How Genetics, Hormones, and Aging Affect Hair Growth

Genes are often blamed for the problem of hair loss. Genetic factors are not only responsible for hair color but also for hair density, texture, and growth. Male and female pattern baldness is a result of hereditary hair loss. In males with a genetic susceptibility to baldness, testosterone hormone is converted to a more potent form called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which binds to cells in hair follicles and damages them. The damage caused to hair follicles results in male pattern baldness. In females, the hormone estrogen slows down hair growth and results in a thinner shaft of the hair.

Hormonal

How to grow your hair faster: hair growth tips

Both female and male hormones contribute significantly to hair health and growth. The hormone androgen is responsible for hair growth in men and to a small extent in women. Levels of androgen decreases as we age and leads to slow growth, hair thinning, and less lustrous hair. In contrast to androgens, male hormone testosterone and female hormone estrogen also affect hair health. The levels of estrogen also decrease after menopause leading to hair loss in women with genetic susceptibility.

Health Issues & Medical Disorders

HOW YOUR HORMONES ARE MESSING WITH YOUR HAIR GROWTH

Various medical conditions such as thyroid problems, scalp infections, lupus, lichen planus, and alopecia areatea can adversely affect the general condition of the hair.

Hair & Scalp Condition

18 Bad Habits That Are Thinning Your Hair

There are a number of factors that can contribute to slower hair growth. These are ringworm infection, folliculitis or inflammation of the hair follicles, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Hair that is dry is prone to breakage and hair loss.

Environment & Pollutants

Could Pollution Be Contributing to Your Hair Loss?

Factors include light (UV and visible light), salt and chlorine water. These can all contribute to the breakdown of chemical bonds within hair structure. Heat from sunlight can also dry out hair and make it susceptible to damage. A humid environment opens up pores and cuticles leaving them exposed to damaging influences.

Lifestyle Habits You Can Adopt For Healthy Hair!

While factors like heredity genetics, hormones and medical disorders such as Thyroid are irreversible and others such as weather, environment & pollutants, and normal hair aging are not within our control, there are other more common factors that are, thankfully, within our control. Read on to find out how you can improve hair health & growth and prevent hair loss!

A Balanced Diet & Nutrition

Vitamin B: Best Food Sources and Signs of Deficiency

If you are what you eat, then diet plays into how your hair grows too! Good nutrition & a balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients, contributes the best possible condition for building strong, radiant locks. If you are concerned you may be nutritionally deficient, see your doctor; they can perform a blood test to confirm.

Hair is made of a natural protein called keratin. Proteins are the building blocks of hair. Protein-rich foods – eggs, almonds, chicken, oats, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt & milk – can therefore help to keep hair strong and healthy. People who don’t get enough protein slow the rate of their hair growth.

Vitamins

Vitamins also trigger the hair cycle so it is essential to evaluate the content of vitamins in the body before taking any multivitamin supplements. Vitamin A could halt hair growth but Vitamin B is especially helpful in having healthier hair growth. Sources of Vitamin B include Whole grains (brown rice, barley, millet) Meat (red meat, poultry, fish) Eggs and dairy products (milk, cheese) Legumes (beans, lentils) Seeds and nuts (sunflower seeds, almonds) Dark, leafy vegetables (broccoli, spinach, kai lan) Fruits (citrus fruits, avocados, bananas)

Minerals

Important minerals that promote hair growth are iron, zinc, iodine, and silica. Research shows that nutritional deficiencies—like iron deficiency anemia or a zinc deficiency—may result in hair loss. Eating plenty of Vitamin B food sources along with iron and zinc-rich foods like dark leafy greens, whole grains, lean beef, legumes, nuts, and seeds can help prevent deficiencies.

Omega-3s

Studies also show a promising connection between Omega-3s and strong hair growth. Foods rich in Omega-3s include oily fish like salmon and mackerel, nuts and seeds like flax and chia seeds, and flaxseed and soybean oils.

Exercise Frequently

5 Tips for a More Confident You

When you exercise, there is an improvement in your general health. Working out increases testosterone and testosterone triggers facial hair growth. Exercise boosts body health and promotes a strong hair growth cycle. It increases the blood flow to scalp and promotes circulation around the scalp, resulting in better hair growth. People can help nourish their hair follicles by performing 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise at least three times per week. Working out also triggers bodily recovery, which can help replenish hair and skin.

Avoid Stress

Entrepreneur Mental Health: Do You Need A Therapist?

Stress is considered one of the most unusual causes of sudden hair loss. High amounts of stress can eventually lead to hair falling out, either in small amounts or in larger patches.

Research indicates that stress compromises & adversely affects the internal systems & natural process of hair growth. Stress releases high cortisol levels in the body that may cause hair follicles to shed, go into a “resting” phase or stop growing entirely.

While stress reduction and improved sleep can reverse temporary shedding for many people, persistent thinning or visible baldness often requires professional assessment. A specialist can help distinguish between reversible causes and conditions that benefit from targeted interventions, and advise on non-surgical, customized options when appropriate.

For readers exploring restorative alternatives that preserve a natural look, resources such as Hair Replacement Studio Atlanta provide individualized consultations and tailored approaches for both men and women. Speaking with an expert early can clarify realistic expectations and create a step-by-step plan that complements lifestyle changes.

Stress can contribute to the onset of alopecia areata (where the body’s immune system attacks hair follicles) and severe psychological stress leads to a condition of temporary hair loss disorders like telogen effluvium.

Pressure from work, family, and other societal pressures, is sometimes inevitable, but stress overall is a somewhat controllable factor that affects hair health. Finding ways to keep stress under control is essential. Calming rituals like yoga, meditation, or just taking a few deep breaths when life gets crazy can all go a long way.

Get Proper Rest & Sleep

How to Protect and Sleep on Your Hair

Stress- sleep and hair loss are all interrelated because stress can highly affect sleep quality and quantity.

A sound sleep at night is required for protein synthesis of the hair and releases the growth hormones also which is very important for the overall hair health. Our body produces melatonin which is a hormone that helps in regulating the body’s sleep cycle and increases hair growth. If the body’s melatonin levels are down then there is a chance of extreme hair loss. Lack of sleep can lead to stress which forces the hair follicle in a premature resting state which is again followed by a hair shedding phase.

According to most research sleep is important for hair growth as that can reduce the stress level which may help to reduce hair loss specifically Androgenic Alopecia. So make it a point to rest when you are tired and try to get at least 7 hours of sleep daily. Control and balance your physical and emotional health by adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Other Lifestyle Factors To Avoid

Various lifestyle factors can affect hair growth. Excessive smoking has been linked to hair loss, baldness and premature hair ageing. It restricts the blood vessels and affects blood flow throughout the body. Slowing the blood flow in hair follicles retards hair growth. Toxins in the smoke can also damage hair follicles and results in follicular inflammation due to the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. So, living healthier and taking everything in moderation is key to promote a fit body and healthy locks!

Avoid Mechanical Factors

This includes combing, back-combing, and the use of a hair curler. These methods can rub against the hair cuticles causing them to flake and tear. Wet hair is particularly susceptible as the cuticles are swollen, potentially exposing the inner cortex. Extensive brushing can lead to traction alopecia and can cause breakage in dry and brittle hair.

Avoid Chemical Factors

14 things you’re doing every day that are ruining your hair

Cosmetic procedures

Cosmetic procedures including coloring, lightening and perming services, which are designed to penetrate the outer protective cuticle, so as to affect the inner cortex directly. Perming chemicals break down disulphate bonds, which hold together the polypeptide chains of keratin. If hair and scalp are over exposed to these chemicals, severe damage can occur.

Harmful Hair Products

The use or prolongated use of harmful hair products could also lead to hair loss. Certain hair products contain harsh chemicals that weaken and damage hair, leading to temporary hair loss. Shampoos containing polyethene glycol and alcohol should be avoided as it makes hair brittle. Hair dyes containing paraphenylenediamine can cause scalp irritation and allergic reactions, which may ultimately lead to hair thinning. So, always opt for a natural, organic and herbal-based product that promote and maximize healthy hair growth.

Bottomline

5 Ways Pollution Affects Your Hair And Scalp Health

When it comes to your hair’s health, you may not always feel like you’re getting the results you’re after. There is a lot, however, that is within your control. Eating a healthy diet, reducing stress levels, and creating a healthy environment by spending time in nature (and no smoking!) are important ways to keep hair healthy and strong at any age.

Beauty is such a strange thing. Everyone’s opinion is different as to what the perfect woman looks like, and if you ever start talking about beauty there is usually one person in the group who feels it is their responsibility to remind everyone that inner beauty is what is most important.

While I do agree that inner beauty is at the top of the necessities list, I also think it is important for women to feel beautiful in their own skin. There is nothing wrong with trying to be your best self and that includes looking your best. Here is a list of a few simple things to help you feel more radiant every day.

Hair

Top 10 Apps That Let You Try on Different Haircuts

As a rule of thumb sleeping with wet hair does not make for the easiest styling in the morning. If you need simple then I would suggest showering in the morning and then allowing the blowdryer and a small amount of product to do most of the styling for you.

Eyebrows

There is a huge push right now towards thick, perfectly sculpted eyebrows. While all of that is fine and good not all of us have time for that level of artistry in our daily makeup routine. Something simple for most women to do is get their eyebrows shaped at a salon and then keep up the shape by weekly tweezing the hair that grows outside the shaped brow.

Some ladies may prefer to wax their brows. The only problem with that is you have to allow the hair to grow in long enough to wax it off. If you just give yourself 5 minutes in the bathroom each week your brows will always look sharp and ready to go.

Teeth

8 Things You Should Know Before Going to the Dentist

Do you wish your smile was more dazzling? There are a few options for obtaining that glowing grin that you’ve been searching for. Probably the simplest solution would be custom veneers. They help to quickly correct and brighten your smile. Another option, if you feel like being in there for the long haul, would be braces. This way you can have your permanently perfect teeth.

Teeth whitening is also a quick solution you can turn to for a brighter overall look. It only takes a week or so to start seeing noticeable results that will have you smiling at everyone you meet.

Lips

How to get rid of chapped lips: The 10 best chapsticks and lip balms

A simple way to keep your face looking fresh and your smile looking clean are to avoid dry lips. Lip color is fun, but it doesn’t always fit the occasion. If you’re looking to just have a clean put together look than keep your lips moist. Chapstick works great on the go, but an extra shine from moisturizing lip gloss is a huge plus to a radiant smile.

Lashes

5 Changes to Make When Summer Turns to Fall

A step that many women skip in their makeup routine is curling their eyelashes. This is usually for 1 of 2 reasons. First, they’ve heard some tragic story about a girl pulling all of her eyelashes out. A good way to avoid doing that would be to only curl your eyelashes when you are sitting on something stable. The second reason is that they just honestly don’t know how.

Curling your eyelashes opens up your eyes and makes your lashes appear thicker and longer. If you’re not sure how to properly curl your lashes then look up one of the many hundreds of tutorials on Youtube. It’s easy. It doesn’t take a lot of time. And it makes a huge difference in how open your eyes appear.

Why Your Instagram Isn’t Blowing Up Like It Could Be

A woman who feels beautiful in her own skin truly does stand out. Not because of the perfect lipstick or hair, but because her confidence and self-assurance are eye-catching. Do what you need to feel beautiful, and the people around you will be able to tell a noticeable difference.

Most of us don’t really give a lot of attention to our feet, although they are a pretty important part of your body if you actually sit and think about it.

They are how you get around, how your body is able to get from point A to point B. They are how you walk, run, glide, dance, and basically how you do all physical activities.

But even though they are so essential to most of our daily activities, most of the time we hardly pay attention to them.

This is something that most of us should probably change, because paying attention to your feet might actually help you to know a little more about your body and your overall health.

Here are seven things your feet are trying to tell you about your health, and if you actually pay attention it can help to identify some health issues you might have, or help prevent them in general.

Pain in the morning is probably not normal

If you’ve ever noticed that when you wake up and try to take a few steps and it’s painful, it might be a sign that something is off.

According to the Center for Diseases Control, pain in your feet when you first try to walk in the morning could be a sign of rheumatoid arthritis, because this can cause inflammation of the joints which leads to pain. The only way to stop this pain is to talk to your foot doctor, who can probably prescribe medication and certain exercises to help alleviate the pain.

Pay attention to cold feet

So THAT’s why women’s feet and hands are always cold! Why they are slaves to their hormones

For most of us having cold feet on cold days or when walking across wood or tile in the mornings is completely normal. If your feet continuously feel cold, however, there may be something else your feet are trying to tell you.

One of the first things cold feet could be a sign of is poor circulation, which is common if you are too sedentary. Making sure to actually use your feet and walk around, exercise, and lead a more active lifestyle could help with this issue.

Cold feet can also be a sign of a more serious health issue, one as serious as diabetes. According to the CDC, cold or numb feet could be a sign of diabetes and nerve damage associated with diabetes, so if you notice any of these signs it’s best to call your local foot doctor.

The color of your nails matter

8 Things Your Nails Are Trying To Tell You

While some may have pretty toenails due to a pedicure, what’s important is to pay attention to is the color of your nails without nail polish on.

According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, a healthy toenail should have the actual nail growing right against the toe and the toenail should look pink and not sunken in.

If you have nails that have a yellow color to them, look sunken in or the nail isn’t growing correctly it could be a sign of a fungal infection. Other deformities in the nails could also mean anemia, poor circulation, or even a skin condition.

Parched feet need more than water

7 Expert Tips For Keeping Your Feet Healthy This Summer

The dry and flaky skin on the feet is a pretty normal phenomenon especially when the weather is hot and dry, but if it’s accompanied by other worrisome symptoms, it could mean something more.

Again, it’s pretty common to have dry feet with flaky skin around the heel area, but if you are also noticing rapid weight gain, problems with your vision, and numbness in your hands that could be a sign of a thyroid issue and it might be worth it to get it checked out by a doctor.

Continuous swelling means time to see the doctor

13 Reasons Your Feet Are Swollen

This is another issue that can be pretty common and caused by relatively harmless things like walking around a lot, ill-fitting shoes, and sitting too much. But if you notice that your feet are continuously swollen, it might be time to ask a professional if there is a more serious problem to be worried about.

Swollen feet could mean circulation problems because they are actually one of the first places to exhibit problems with blood flow, heart, and even kidney problems.

Not everyone believes they are cut out to take care of even a few plants, but if that’s you, don’t worry: there are seeds out there just for you. Whether you’re looking for something indoor or outdoor, edible or ornamental, low maintenance or just plain tough, you can’t go wrong picking from this assortment to get your gardener feet under you.

Indoor: Hanging or Potted

These are the 15 easiest indoor houseplants (that won’t die on you)

If you’re afraid of what the weather could release on your plants in wide open spaces, take it slow and start with a plant that is perfectly content to remain within the controlled environment of your home or within easy reach on your porch step.

Ornamental

If half the reason you want a garden is to spend more time with your feet in the dirt and the sun warming your back, there are some beauties you can take on that will fill your garden near to bursting with minimal. An important part of your outdoor garden will be weed control, so be sure to prepare your soil well and give it some extra attention.

Invest in your favorite perennials (flowers that will rebloom each year), but you might want to take on an annual seed or two as well.

Ornamental

Raspberries – these are perennial and one of the easiest berries to grow. You won’t have any berries the first year, but every year following you’ll have brambles ready to keep producing.

Before setting your heart on any of these darlings, check to see which types grow well in your area, how much space they’ll end up taking, and if you should make any special preparations for specific plants. Once that’s in place, you’ll take on the title of a gardener with ease.
