<p>Can you imagine starting the day without a cup of coffee? Most people just cannot and will not. This is understandable since a cup of caffeine rich coffee gives us the energy boost, we need to start the day. I discovered my love for coffee in my late 20s and have been hooked ever since. But what exactly is caffeine, how does it work and why are some of us so addicted to it? Read on to find out more about caffeine, <a href="https://drinksupercoffee.com/blog/nutrition/where-does-caffeine-come-from/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">where it is found</a>, how it is absorbed by the human body and its impact on our health and lifestyle.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Caffeine &amp; Nature</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://perfectdailygrind.com/2021/08/why-do-coffee-plants-flower-what-does-it-mean-for-producers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="990" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-990x620.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3976" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-990x620.png 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-300x188.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-768x480.png 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-150x94.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111-600x375.png 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-111.png 998w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Why do coffee plants flower &amp; what does it mean for producers?</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Coffee plants have caffeine in order to protect themselves from predators and other plants, but also to attract pollinators. Caffeine is toxic to insects and smaller herbivores, preventing them from eating the plant. When coffee leaves fall on the ground, the caffeine is absorbed into the soil, preventing competing plants from growing nearby. The caffeine in <a href="https://theroasterie.com/blogs/news/coffee-101-what-does-a-coffee-plant-look-like" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">coffee flowers</a> also causes addiction in pollinating insects such as bees, helping to spread the cultivation of the plant.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Where does Caffeine come from: Natural and Synthetic Sources</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.homegrounds.co/where-does-caffeine-come-from/#:~:text=Caffeine%20is%20made%20of%20a,%2C3%2C7%2Dtrimethylxanthine." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="594" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-594x620.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3989" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-594x620.jpg 594w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-201x210.jpg 201w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-768x802.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-150x157.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1-600x626.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-1.jpg 819w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Where Does Caffeine Come From?</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Coffee is the most popular but not the only <a href="https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/what-are-hidden-sources-of-caffeine" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">source of caffeine</a>. Caffeine in its natural form can be found in over 60 varieties of plants (guarana, guayusa and yaupon holly plants); nuts such as the kola nut; beans (<a href="https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/coffee-farms-are-good-birds-other-wildlife-study-finds-180968205/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">coffee beans</a>, cacao etc.) and buds and tea leaves (bark of Yoco, Yerba mate etc.) and finally from various fruit and berries (guarana berries) as well.</p>

<p>While most caffeine is consumed in drinks made from these plants, beans fruit and nuts, Caffeine can also be synthetically produced in labs as a common artificial additive to packaged drinks, foods, and other products. <a href="https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/foods-with-caffeine" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Synthesized caffeine is commonly found in unexpected sources</a> including gums, flavored waters, chocolates, juices, sodas. It may be added to beverages, alcohol, diet supplements and medications like pain-relieving analgesics and other OTC medication (for example, Advil and other headache medicines, painkillers and blood thinners). Synthetic caffeine is also often added to non-food products like makeup, face creams, and other cosmetics (2Trusted Source, 3Trusted Source).</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="990" height="540" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-990x540.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3982" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-990x540.png 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-300x164.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-768x419.png 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-150x82.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8-600x327.png 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-8.png 1072w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></figure>

<p>The difference between natural and synthetically produced caffeine is as follows:</p>

<p>The FDA states that the word ‘caffeine’ must be added to food labels when it has been artificially added in any production processes, whereas naturally-caffeinated items do not need such specifications.</p>

<p>A 2012 study also found that extracting caffeine from natural sources is more expensive than making caffeine synthetically.</p>

<p>Another difference between synthetic vs natural caffeine is their mildly different effects on the body. Food products with natural caffeine are more nutrient-rich, with essential health-promoting vitamins and minerals like potassium and magnesium. Foods with synthetic caffeine tend to have non-ideal additional components, such as too much-processed sugar, that are health-harming and have non-nutritive stimulants.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is caffeine, why is it addictive and how does it work?</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/caffeine/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="930" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-930x620.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3987" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-930x620.jpg 930w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-150x100.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3-600x400.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-3.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Caffeine</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>The medical name of caffeine, derived from its molecular structure, is 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine. Caffeine is a bitter white powder chemically known as theine, mateine, guaranine, or methyltheobromine. Its chemical formula is C8 H10 N4 O2. This means it is made of 8 carbon atoms, 10 hydrogen atoms, 4 nitrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. These atoms are arranged in heterocyclic rings to form a purine alkaloid.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.homegrounds.co/what-is-caffeine/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Caffeine is a mild stimulant</a> that works by stimulating the central nervous system (CNS). It works by blocking the brain’s adenosine receptors, which prevent the neurotransmitter adenosine from binding to them. This tricks your brain into thinking it’s alert rather than tired or in need of rest.</p>

<p>Caffeine&#8217;s effects are milder than other stimulants, such as amphetamines and cocaine, but it does influence the same channels in the brain. This effect on the brain is one of the reasons caffeine is addictive. In fact, caffeine actually changes brain chemistry, increases dopamine levels, and causes blood vessels in the brain to constrict. By releasing adrenaline, you feel a boost of energy and alertness; however, once the effects wear off, feelings of fatigue and irritability may increase.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><a href="https://www.homegrounds.co/what-is-caffeine/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="819" height="573" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3988" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2.jpeg 819w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2-300x210.jpeg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2-768x537.jpeg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2-150x105.jpeg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-2-600x420.jpeg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>What Is Caffeine?</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Caffeine is absorbed within 45 minutes after consuming, and peaks in the blood anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Caffeine in beverages such as coffee, tea, and soda are quickly absorbed in the gut and dissolves in both the body’s water and fat molecules. It is able to cross into the brain. Food or food components, such as fibers, in the gut can delay how quickly caffeine in the blood peaks. Therefore, drinking your morning coffee on an empty stomach might give you a quicker energy boost than if you drank it while eating breakfast.</p>

<p>Caffeine is broken down mainly in the liver. It can remain in the blood anywhere from 1.5 to 9.5 hours, depending on various factors. Smoking speeds up the breakdown of caffeine, whereas pregnancy and oral contraceptives can slow the breakdown. During the third trimester of pregnancy, caffeine can remain in the body for up to 15 hours.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Impact of Caffeine on Health</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><a href="https://infinigeek.com/technology-to-drive-growth-in-the-coffee-industry/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="710" height="434" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-81.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3978" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-81.jpg 710w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-81-300x183.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-81-150x92.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-81-600x367.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Technology to Drive Growth in the Coffee Industry</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Caffeine works by stimulating the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure, creating both positive and negative effects. Caffeine can raise blood pressure, but may not have this effect in people who use it regularly.</p>

<p>Caffeine has other short-term effects on the body including reduced appetite, increased metabolism, nervousness, <a href="https://instantella.com/simple-habits-for-better-mental-health/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">insomnia</a> and stomach upsets. Long-term effects of caffeine consumption include a reduced risk of diseases, an increased risk of osteoporosis in women, and bladder problems.</p>

<p>Like most drugs, the effects of caffeine will vary from person to person and a person&#8217;s tolerance to caffeine can increase over time.</p>

<p>People often develop a “caffeine tolerance” when taken regularly, which can reduce its stimulant effects unless a higher amount is consumed.</p>

<p><strong>Benefits of Caffeine</strong></p>

<p>Caffeine has many health benefits including a reduced risk of diseases in human just like it prevents disease in coffee plants.</p>

<p>Caffeine can also improve athletic performance by increasing energy and delaying the onset of fatigue. By reducing appetite and increasing metabolism &#8211; the energy used for digestion &#8211; caffeine can help with <a href="https://instantella.com/debunking-common-myths-about-anorexia/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">weight loss.</a></p>

<p>Positive long-term effects of caffeine consumption include a decreased risk of suicide, a decreased risk of developing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, and possibly an improved memory.</p>

<p>Caffeine is healthy as long as it’s consumed in the correct amounts. You can safely consume up to 400 mg of caffeine daily as a healthy adult. However, if you aren’t aware of exactly where caffeine is found, you may be unintentionally consuming too much caffeine, which can cause discomfort and anxiety-like symptoms. You can also use this daily caffeine calculator to know how much caffeinated drinks you can take.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="990" height="564" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-990x564.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3996" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-990x564.png 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-300x171.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-768x437.png 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-150x85.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1-600x342.png 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-10-1.png 1001w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Negative Effects of Caffeine</strong></p>

<p>Because caffeine is addictive, there is a risk of drinking excess amounts of caffeinated beverages like soda and energy drinks because they are taken chilled and are easy to digest quickly in large quantities.</p>

<p><a href="https://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-caffeine-structure-side-effects.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Negative short-term effects of caffeine</a> include an increase in urine flow or even induce diarrhea, nervousness, headaches, confusion, stomach irritability, <a href="https://www.andysowards.com/blog/2018/importance-of-sleep/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sleeping problems</a>, increased blood pressure and heartburn.</p>

<p>Negative long-term effects of caffeine include issues during pregnancy, bladder instability, an increased risk of osteoporosis in women, and worsening of symptoms of anxiety and depression.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is Caffeine Withdrawal?</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><a href="https://www.andysowards.com/blog/2012/40-best-coffee-company-branding-design-inspirations/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="399" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-131.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3990" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-131.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-131-300x200.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-131-150x100.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>40+ Best Coffee Company Branding Design Inspirations</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>Due to both short- and long-term negative effects of caffeine, you can imagine that many of us would have some point tried to do away with coffee or at the least reduce our daily intake consumption. Caffeine is a stimulant, and like any drug, there can be withdrawal symptoms after it’s discontinued. The symptoms are strongest within a few days after stopping caffeine, but tend to subside after about one week. Tapering the amount gradually may help to reduce side effects.</p>

<p>Those who consume caffeine regularly may also become accustomed to the release of dopamine (the “feel good” neurotransmitter) that caffeine induces – and losing that extra dopamine boost can feel like withdrawal as well. Caffeine withdrawal may cause short-term effects such as headaches, irritability, and muscle aches.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Substitutes for Caffeine</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><a href="https://fulcompany.com/blogs/the-ful-scoop/20-best-natural-alternatives-to-coffee-for-energy?currency=USD" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><img decoding="async" width="759" height="388" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-11.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3980" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-11.png 759w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-11-300x153.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-11-150x77.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-Caffeine-11-600x307.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>20 Best Natural Alternatives to Coffee for Energy</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>There is no coffee that is naturally free from caffeine. <a href="https://www.cirad.fr/en/our-activities-our-impact/tropical-value-chains/coffee/plant-and-uses" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Decaffeinated coffee</a> contains up to 97% less caffeine than regular coffee, but it is not completely caffeine-free. Decaf coffee contains around 5 mg caffeine per 6 oz cup, compared to regular coffee, which contains around 72 mg caffeine per 6 oz cup. <p>Genetic and hormonal disturbances are often blamed for the problem of hair loss, but there are other factors that adversely affect hair growth &amp; overall health including varying degree of&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_loss" target="_blank">hair fall</a>, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.</p>

<p>Thankfully, adopting the correct , simple &amp; easy to follow hair care regimen can lead to good habits that result in healthier, happier &amp; revitalized hair. Here are some tips:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Use The Right Products (In The Right Amount) For Your Hair Type</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://greatist.com/live/healthy-hair-tips" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="571" height="382" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-30.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3761" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-30.png 571w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-30-300x201.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-30-150x100.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">13 Ways You Don’t Realize You’re Damaging Your Hair</figcaption></figure>

<p>Hair differs in texture, color, width etc. First, learn how to <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/types-of-hair" target="_blank">identify hair type</a> in order determine what <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.stylist.co.uk/beauty/the-golden-rules-of-good-hair-care-simple-steps-to-get-beautiful-happy-healthy-hair-celebrity-hairdresser-tips-advice/135381" target="_blank">t</a><a href="https://www.stylist.co.uk/beauty/the-golden-rules-of-good-hair-care-simple-steps-to-get-beautiful-happy-healthy-hair-celebrity-hairdresser-tips-advice/135381" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">y</a><a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.stylist.co.uk/beauty/the-golden-rules-of-good-hair-care-simple-steps-to-get-beautiful-happy-healthy-hair-celebrity-hairdresser-tips-advice/135381" target="_blank">pes of shampoo and conditioner</a> your hair needs &amp; how to style it. For example, if your hair type is dry and frizzy you will likely use something heavy in moisture. When choosing a shampoo, opt for an organic and herbal based blend that promote and maximize healthy hair growth. &nbsp;Again, most hair types benefit from a dime-sized amount of shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, according to&nbsp;<a href="http://www.constantinejamesco.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Constantine James</a>, a celebrity hair and makeup expert. James told&nbsp;<a href="https://greatist.com/live/healthy-hair-tips" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Greatist</a>&nbsp;that using too much product is simply a waste of money and does nothing for you.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Rethink The Frequency &amp; Way You Wash Your Hair</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://instantella.com/7-ways-pamper-holiday-season/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="628" height="420" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3743" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-1.jpg 628w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-1-300x201.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-1-150x100.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-1-600x401.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">7 Ways to Pamper Yourself This Holiday Season</figcaption></figure>

<p>Wet hair is extremely weak and thus more vulnerable to breakage than dry hair. Frequent&nbsp;shampooing &amp; <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.insider.com/mistakes-styling-hair-2018-3#you-sleep-on-wet-hair-5" target="_blank">common mistakes in shampooing and the consequent combing &amp; drying of hair</a>, &nbsp;wears down your hair (especially if you like hot water), and can remove your natural oils. Unless you have a very oily scalp, wash only once or twice a week. As a bonus, the less you wash, the less often you need to apply a styling product. In between washes, briefly rinse hair to remove dirt.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Get Your Brushing Technique Correct</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="624" height="351" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-16.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3754" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-16.jpg 624w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-16-300x169.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-16-150x84.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-16-600x338.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Combing Hair and Hair loss: You Asked, We Answered</figcaption></figure>

<p>Frequent &amp; mindless hair brushing or being too aggressive while brushing your hair will only cause damage, and no-one wants to contend with fluffy, split ends.</p>

<p>“For perfectly shiny, healthy and untangled hair, you should be brushing your hair twice a day,” suggests hairstylist&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jeanlouisdavid.us/experts/laura-superbi_t76/1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Laura Superbi</a>.&nbsp;“Once in the morning and once before going to bed, for about a minute each time.” “Brushing from the roots causes damage – always brush from the bottom and work up,” advises hair stylist Tracey Cunningham, especially if you have long hair.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/hair/a33470/never-brush-wet-hair-myth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wet hair&nbsp;</a>is extremely weak and thus more vulnerable to breakage than dry hair, so tugging at your tresses with a brush or a comb post-shower to de-tangle is one of the worst things you can do.</p>

<p>Waiting as long as you can to work through those tangles (and also using a high-quality hair brush when you do) is a good idea for&nbsp;<em>all&nbsp;</em>hair types, even if it requires a little more extra patience.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Get A Good Haircut &amp; Learn How To Maintain It</strong><strong></strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.insider.com/how-often-you-should-get-your-hair-cut-2019-9" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="700" height="525" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-10.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3746" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-10.jpg 700w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-10-280x210.jpg 280w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-10-150x113.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-10-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">How often you should get your hair cut, depending on your style</figcaption></figure>

<p>Studies show that <a href="https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/hair/a33448/haircuts-how-often-trim-hair/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">frequent haircuts is good </a>for the overall health of your hair. Don’t wait to develop split ends, tangles and uncontrollable length before you make your next haircut appointment.&nbsp; Finding a stylist who can create a haircut that’s just right for you and your hair, and who will explain what it&#8217;s going to take for you to maintain the look is important. That usually means getting regular trims, says&nbsp;Tania Moran, a stylist at Swank salon in New York City. &#8220;If you have long hair, return every six to eight weeks,&#8221; she recommends. &#8220;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.everydayhealth.com/pictures/supplements-skin-hair/" target="_blank">If you want it to grow</a>, wait a bit longer. If you have short hair, go in every four to six weeks.&#8221;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Massage Your Scalp</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/scalp-massage-health-beauty-benefits_n_573b41e9e4b0646cbeeaf43f" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="720" height="480" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-14.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3750" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-14.jpg 720w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-14-300x200.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-14-150x100.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-14-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The Health And Beauty Benefits Of A Scalp Massage</figcaption></figure>

<p>Scalp massages with a blend of oils increase blood circulation and stimulates hair follicles. Weekly scalp massage is, therefore, one of the most beneficial treatments for maintaining beautiful hair &#8211; Massage your scalp with a blend of oils such as tea tree oil, olive oil, coconut oil &amp; peppermint oil</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Protect Your Hair While You Sleep</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.insider.com/mistakes-styling-hair-2018-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="700" height="525" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-17.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3753" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-17.jpg 700w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-17-280x210.jpg 280w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-17-150x113.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-17-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">14 things you&#8217;re doing every day that are ruining your hair</figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Always Use Heat &amp; Sun Protectant Products&nbsp;</strong><strong></strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.elle.com/beauty/news/g30046/sun-heat-protection-hair-products/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="387" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-4.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3740" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-4.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-4-300x151.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-4-150x76.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-4-600x302.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">11 Products That Protect Your Hair From Sun Damage</figcaption></figure>

<p>The longer your hair is exposed to high temps from styling tools like a blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron, the more damage you can create. Always use a heat protectant spray or serum before you blow dry or flat iron because when used with hot tools, the product breaks down to penetrate the hair shaft in order to work on reconstruction and protection! Similarly, protection from the sun is also a must for your not only your skin but also your hair. <a href="https://www.elle.com/beauty/news/g30046/sun-heat-protection-hair-products/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Click here</a> for more information on products that protect your hair from the sun and harmful UV rays.</p>

<p>Grabbing drying or heat tools immediately after hopping out of the shower is a definite no-no.</p>

<p>Let your hair air-dry for at least an hour before touching it at all, and you&#8217;ll cut down on styling time and heat damage all at once.</p>

<p>Heat and direction are the key elements for a successful blowout. The best beauty tip when blow drying your hair is to get as close as possible without actually touching the strands (the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.everydayhealth.com/hair-loss-pictures/surprising-things-that-cause-hair-loss-0209.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">heat can do damage</a>). Use a moderate to high heat setting, and make sure you aim down so that air blows along the hair shafts from root to tip. That&#8217;s what gives you the sleek shininess of salon hair.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Invest in Some High-Quality Hot Tools</strong><strong></strong></h3>

<p>Committing the mortal sin of blow-drying too quickly and using the high heat settings can cause some scary long-term effects on your locks, but the opposite is also true: Skimping on drying time is equally bad for your strands.</p>

<p>When you blow dry and leave hair damp, you&#8217;re giving it a one-way ticket to frizzville as the hair becomes exposed to the elements when you walk out the door.</p>

<p>And if your hair isn&#8217;t fully dry before you straighten or curl it, you&#8217;re putting it at serious risk for breakage. So spend some time to research and invest in the right, high quality tools that are kind to your hair but also get the job done right!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Don’t Wear the Same Ponytail Every Day</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/news/a15206/hair-ties-bad-for-hair/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="384" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-15.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3752" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-15.png 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-15-300x150.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-15-150x75.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-15-600x300.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">5 Ways You Didn&#8217;t Realize Your Hair Ties Are Ruining Your Hair</figcaption></figure>

<p>For those of us constantly on-the-go, ponytails and top knots often save us hours of styling time, giving us a polished look without hot tools and tons of product. But wearing your hair in the same way every day is pretty bad for it, causing breakage along your hairline and mid-shaft. Be sure to protect your hair by varying your hairdos, as the same placement each day can cause breakage or damage. A high ponytail today should mean a low one tomorrow or a pinned-up twist or bun instead.</p>

<p>Use a creaseless<a href="https://www.lorealparisusa.com/beauty-magazine/hair-style/hairstyle-trends/scrunchie-hairstyles.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;scrunchie&nbsp;</a>instead of a classic hair tie because tough or textured ties can damage your hair. Hair ties, as convenient as they are,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/news/a15206/hair-ties-bad-for-hair/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">can lead to breakage, flyaways, and frizz</a>, which isn&#8217;t great for the long-term health of your hair. Give locks a break as often as you can – for example keep your ponytail or bun loose for the same reason you shouldn’t braid your hair too tightly to prevent hair breakage &#8211; &nbsp;to protect your scalp from unnecessary stress and tightness, so it&#8217;ll look great no matter what style you&#8217;re rocking these days.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Takeaway</strong><strong></strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://florida-academy.edu/scalp-head-massage-benefits/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="930" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-930x620.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3758" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-930x620.jpeg 930w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-150x100.jpeg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24-600x400.jpeg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-24.jpeg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">What You Should Know About Scalp and Head Massage</figcaption></figure>

<p><br>Hair growth is not always a&nbsp;<a href="https://drbest.in/product/hair-conditioning-shampoo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">matter of shampoo</a>, serums and conditioners, but also a matter of balanced diet, genetics and peace of mind. Most of the factors mentioned above can be easily maintained by minor lifestyle changes; however, genetic factors remain irreversible. Maintaining the right nutritional balance of vitamins, antioxidants and micronutrients along with correction of hair loss mechanism can be a successful hair loss management strategy. So, adopt a supportive hair care routine and make your hair look healthy and damage-free in no time!</p>

<p>Hair. We’d all be lying if we said we didn’t care about our hair or if the health of our hair didn’t cross our mind at some point. A person’s hair has physical &amp; health significance. Hair&nbsp;symbolizes physical strength &amp; beauty! It is a symbol of instinct, seduction and physical attraction – whether you wear it long, short, cropped or curly. More importantly, the health of a person’s hair, is very often indicative of overall health.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/types-of-hair" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="729" height="603" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-5.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3739" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-5.png 729w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-5-254x210.png 254w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-5-150x124.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/A-Healthy-Hair-Care-Regimen-5-600x496.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 729px) 100vw, 729px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">How to Identify and Style Your Hair Type</figcaption></figure>

<p>Like everything else, hair too has a <a href="https://www.today.com/style/how-make-your-hair-grow-faster-t131559" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hair growth cycle</a> and any disruption or interference in this cycle could cause hair loss which is a very common problem. &nbsp;Along with hair loss, people experience other hair problems such as varying degree of&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_loss" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hair fall</a>, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.toppik.com/hairtoppiksblog/understanding-hair-growth-cycle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="836" height="418" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3778" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14.jpg 836w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14-300x150.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14-768x384.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14-150x75.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-14-600x300.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Understanding the Hair Growth Cycle</figcaption></figure>

<p>Now, while some of these problems are complicated and hard to control, the good news is that most problems associated with hair loss &amp; damage are the more common ones, within our control to correct and resolve. So, to get down to basics, here we will be discussing the most important factors that affect the health and growth of hair, what causes hair damage &amp; loss and finally best practices to prevent hair loss &amp; promote regrowth!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Uncontrollable Factors Affecting Hair Loss, Growth &amp; Damage</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="338" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-18.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3764" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-18.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-18-300x169.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-18-150x85.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<p><a>Genetic </a>and hormonal disturbances <a>are often blamed for the problem of hair loss</a>, but there are other factors that adversely affect hair growth &amp; overall health including varying degree of&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_loss">hair fall</a>, hair thinning, poor growth, loss of hair volume, lack of shine, change in texture, lack of bounce and many more.</p>

<p><strong>Genetic</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/whats-inside-matters-how-genetics-hormones-and-aging-affect-hair-growth?ref=scroll" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="990" height="557" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-990x557.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3781" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-990x557.jpg 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-300x169.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-768x432.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-150x84.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19-600x337.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-19.jpg 1035w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">What’s Inside Matters: How Genetics, Hormones, and Aging Affect Hair Growth</figcaption></figure>

<p>Genes are often blamed for the problem of hair loss. Genetic factors are not only responsible for hair color but also for hair density, texture, and growth. Male and female pattern baldness is a result of hereditary hair loss. In males with a genetic susceptibility to baldness, testosterone hormone is converted to a more potent form called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which binds to cells in hair follicles and damages them. The damage caused to hair follicles results in male pattern baldness. In females, the hormone estrogen slows down hair growth and results in a thinner shaft of the hair.</p>

<p><strong>Hormonal</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.today.com/style/how-make-your-hair-grow-faster-t131559" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="450" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-25-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3787" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-25-1.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-25-1-280x210.jpg 280w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-25-1-150x113.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">How to grow your hair faster: hair growth tips</figcaption></figure>

<p>Both female and male hormones contribute significantly to hair health and growth. The hormone androgen is responsible for hair growth in men and to a small extent in women. Levels of androgen decreases as we age and leads to slow growth, hair thinning, and less lustrous hair. In contrast to androgens, male hormone testosterone and female hormone estrogen also affect&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dermaessentia.com/product/hair-growth-serum/">hair health</a>. The levels of estrogen also decrease after menopause leading to hair loss in women with genetic susceptibility.</p>

<p><strong>Health Issues &amp; Medical Disorders</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://theouai.com/blogs/by-the-ouai/heres-how-your-hormones-affect-hair-growth" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="733" height="488" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-20.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3779" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-20.png 733w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-20-300x200.png 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-20-150x100.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-20-600x399.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">HOW YOUR HORMONES ARE MESSING WITH YOUR HAIR GROWTH</figcaption></figure>

<p>Various medical conditions such as thyroid problems, scalp infections, lupus, lichen planus, and alopecia areatea can adversely affect the general condition of the hair.</p>

<p><strong>Hair &amp; Scalp Condition</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.thehealthy.com/beauty/hair/bad-habits-that-cause-thinning-hair/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="930" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-930x620.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3789" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-930x620.jpg 930w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-300x200.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-768x512.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-150x100.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26-600x400.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-26.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">18 Bad Habits That Are Thinning Your Hair</figcaption></figure>

<p>There are a number of factors that can contribute to slower hair growth. These are ringworm infection, folliculitis or inflammation of the hair follicles, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Hair that is dry is prone to breakage and hair loss.</p>

<p><strong>Environment &amp; Pollutants</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prose.com/blog/how-pollution-affects-hair.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="962" height="576" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3783" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21.jpg 962w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21-300x180.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21-768x460.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21-150x90.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-21-600x359.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Could Pollution Be Contributing to Your Hair Loss?</figcaption></figure>

<p>Factors include light (UV and visible light), salt and chlorine water. These can all contribute to the breakdown of chemical bonds within hair structure. Heat from sunlight can also dry out hair and make it susceptible to damage. A humid environment opens up pores and cuticles leaving them exposed to damaging influences.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Lifestyle Habits You Can Adopt For Healthy Hair!</strong></h3>

<p>While factors like heredity genetics, hormones and medical disorders such as Thyroid are irreversible and others such as weather, environment &amp; pollutants, and normal hair aging are not within our control, there are other more common factors that are, thankfully, within our control.&nbsp; Read on to find out how you can improve hair health &amp; growth and prevent hair loss!</p>

<p><strong>A Balanced Diet &amp; Nutrition</strong></p>

<p>If you are what you eat, then diet plays into how your hair grows too! Good nutrition &amp; a balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients, contributes the best possible condition for building strong, radiant locks. If you are concerned you may be nutritionally deficient, see your doctor; they can perform a blood test to confirm.</p>

<p>Hair is made of a natural protein called keratin. Proteins are the building blocks of hair. <a href="https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/20-delicious-high-protein-foods#1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Protein-rich foods</a> &#8211; eggs, almonds, chicken, oats, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt &amp; milk &#8211; can therefore help to keep hair strong and healthy. People who don’t get enough protein slow the rate of their hair growth.</p>

<ul>
<li>Vitamins</li>
</ul>

<p>Vitamins also trigger the hair cycle so it is essential to evaluate the content of vitamins in the body before taking any multivitamin supplements. Vitamin A could halt hair growth but Vitamin B is especially helpful in having healthier hair growth. <a href="https://www.healthxchange.sg/food-nutrition/food-tips/vitamin-b-best-food-sources-signs-deficiency" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sources of Vitamin B</a> include Whole grains&nbsp;(brown rice, barley, millet) Meat&nbsp;(red&nbsp;meat, poultry, fish) Eggs and dairy products (milk, cheese) Legumes&nbsp;(beans, lentils) Seeds and nuts (sunflower seeds, almonds) Dark, leafy vegetables (broccoli, spinach, kai lan) Fruits (citrus fruits, avocados, bananas)</p>

<ul>
<li>Minerals</li>
</ul>

<p>Important minerals that promote hair growth are iron, zinc, iodine, and silica. <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5315033/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Research</a>&nbsp;shows that nutritional deficiencies—like iron deficiency anemia or a zinc deficiency—may result in hair loss. Eating plenty of Vitamin B food sources along with iron and zinc-rich foods like dark leafy greens, whole grains, lean beef, legumes, nuts, and seeds can help prevent deficiencies.</p>

<ul>
<li>Omega-3s</li>
</ul>

<p><a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6164340/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Studies</a>&nbsp;also show a promising connection between Omega-3s and strong hair growth. Foods rich in Omega-3s include oily fish like salmon and mackerel, nuts and seeds like flax and chia seeds, and flaxseed and soybean oils.</p>

<p><strong>Exercise Frequently</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://instantella.com/5-tips-confident/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="620" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3771" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7.jpg 620w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7-210x210.jpg 210w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7-75x75.jpg 75w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7-150x150.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-7-600x600.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">5 Tips for a More Confident You</figcaption></figure>

<p>When you exercise, there is an improvement in your general health. Working out&nbsp;increases testosterone and testosterone triggers facial&nbsp;hair&nbsp;growth. Exercise&nbsp;boosts body health and promotes a strong&nbsp;hair growth&nbsp;cycle. It increases the blood flow to scalp and promotes circulation around the scalp, resulting in better&nbsp;hair growth. People can&nbsp;help&nbsp;nourish their&nbsp;hair&nbsp;follicles by performing 30 minutes of cardiovascular&nbsp;exercise&nbsp;at least three times per week. Working out&nbsp;also triggers bodily recovery, which can&nbsp;help&nbsp;replenish&nbsp;hair&nbsp;and skin.</p>

<p><strong>Avoid Stress</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.andysowards.com/blog/2019/entrepreneur-mental-health-need-therapist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="942" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-942x620.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3768" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-942x620.jpg 942w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-300x198.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-768x506.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-150x99.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10-600x395.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-10.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 942px) 100vw, 942px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Entrepreneur Mental Health: Do You Need A Therapist?</figcaption></figure>

<p>Stress is considered one of the most unusual causes of sudden hair loss. High amounts of stress can eventually lead to hair falling out, either in small amounts or in larger patches.</p>

<p>Research indicates that stress compromises &amp; adversely affects the internal systems &amp; <a href="https://www.dermaessentia.com/product/hair-men-women/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">natural process of hair growth</a>. Stress releases high cortisol levels in the body that may cause hair follicles to shed,  go into a “resting” phase or stop growing entirely.</p>

<p>While stress reduction and improved sleep can reverse temporary shedding for many people, persistent thinning or visible baldness often requires professional assessment. A specialist can help distinguish between reversible causes and conditions that benefit from targeted interventions, and advise on non-surgical, customized options when appropriate.</p>

<p>For readers exploring restorative alternatives that preserve a natural look, resources such as <a href="https://absoluteimageconsulting.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hair Replacement Studio Atlanta</a> provide individualized consultations and tailored approaches for both men and women. Speaking with an expert early can clarify realistic expectations and create a step-by-step plan that complements lifestyle changes.</p>

<p>Stress can contribute to the onset of alopecia areata (where the body’s immune system attacks hair follicles) and severe psychological stress leads to a condition of temporary hair loss disorders like telogen effluvium.</p>

<p>Pressure from work, family, and other societal pressures, is sometimes inevitable, but stress overall is a somewhat controllable factor that affects hair health. Finding ways to keep stress under control is essential. Calming rituals like yoga, meditation, or just taking a few deep breaths when life gets crazy can all go a long way.</p>

<p><strong>Get Proper Rest &amp; Sleep</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.lorealparisusa.com/beauty-magazine/hair-care/all-hair-types/how-to-sleep-on-hair.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="990" height="557" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-990x557.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3774" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-990x557.jpg 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-768x432.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-150x84.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-600x338.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-4.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">How to Protect and Sleep on Your Hair</figcaption></figure>

<p>Stress- sleep and hair loss are all interrelated because stress can highly affect sleep quality and quantity.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.flomattress.com/blogs/counting-sheep/how-to-sleep-for-hair-growth-is-sleep-important-for-hair-growth#:~:text=A%20sound%20sleep%20at%20night,cycle%20and%20increases%20hair%20growth." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A sound sleep at night</a> is required for protein synthesis of the hair and releases the growth hormones also which is very important for the overall hair health. Our body produces melatonin which is a hormone that helps in regulating the body’s sleep cycle and increases hair growth. If the body’s melatonin levels are down then there is a chance of extreme hair loss. Lack of sleep can lead to stress which forces the hair follicle in a premature resting state which is again followed by a hair shedding phase.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to most research sleep is important for hair growth&nbsp;as that can reduce the stress level which may help to reduce hair loss specifically Androgenic Alopecia. So make it a point to rest when you are tired and try to get at least 7 hours of sleep daily. Control and balance your physical and emotional health by adopting a healthy lifestyle.</p>

<p><strong>Other Lifestyle Factors To Avoid</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="5 BAD HABITS that cause HAIR LOSS | Are you doing this??" width="500" height="281" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rh-ymWl4QqI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>Various lifestyle factors can affect hair growth. Excessive smoking has been linked to hair loss, baldness and premature hair ageing. It restricts the blood vessels and affects blood flow throughout the body. Slowing the blood flow in hair follicles retards hair growth. Toxins in the smoke can also damage hair follicles and results in follicular inflammation due to the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. So, living healthier and taking everything in moderation is key to promote a fit body and healthy locks!</p>

<p><strong>Avoid Mechanical Factors</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.misskyra.com/lifestyle/all-the-habits-that-can-cause-hair-loss/photostory/71061061.cms?picid=72991729" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="608" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3791" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28.png 800w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28-276x210.png 276w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28-768x584.png 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28-150x114.png 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-28-600x456.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></figure>

<p>This includes combing, <a href="https://blog.viviscal.com/backcombing-hair-and-hair-loss/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">back-combing</a>, and the use of a hair curler. These methods can rub against the hair cuticles causing them to flake and tear. Wet hair is particularly susceptible as the cuticles are swollen, potentially exposing the inner cortex. Extensive brushing can lead to traction alopecia and can cause breakage in dry and brittle hair.</p>

<p><strong>Avoid Chemical Factors</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.insider.com/mistakes-styling-hair-2018-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="700" height="525" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-23.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3784" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-23.jpg 700w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-23-280x210.jpg 280w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-23-150x113.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-23-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">14 things you&#8217;re doing every day that are ruining your hair</figcaption></figure>

<ul>
<li>Cosmetic procedures</li>
</ul>

<p>Cosmetic procedures including coloring, lightening and perming services, which are designed to penetrate the outer protective cuticle, so as to affect the inner cortex directly. Perming chemicals break down disulphate bonds, which hold together the polypeptide chains of keratin. If hair and scalp are over exposed to these chemicals, severe damage can occur.</p>

<ul>
<li>Harmful Hair Products</li>
</ul>

<p>The use or prolongated use of harmful hair products could also lead to hair loss. Certain hair products contain harsh chemicals that weaken and damage hair, leading to temporary hair loss. Shampoos containing polyethene glycol and alcohol should be avoided as it makes hair brittle. Hair dyes containing paraphenylenediamine can cause scalp irritation and allergic reactions, which may ultimately lead to hair thinning. So, always opt for a natural, organic and herbal-based product that&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dermaessentia.com/product/vitamins-for-hair-growth-tablets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">promote and maximize healthy hair growth</a>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bottomline</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prose.com/blog/how-pollution-affects-hair.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" width="990" height="620" src="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-990x620.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3782" srcset="https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-990x620.jpg 990w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-300x188.jpg 300w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-768x480.jpg 768w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-150x94.jpg 150w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-600x375.jpg 600w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22-1536x960.jpg 1536w, https://instantella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Factors-Causing-Hair-Loss-22.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">5 Ways Pollution Affects Your Hair And Scalp Health</figcaption></figure>
